Description Technical Specs

Ethiopia is widely regarded as the “Motherland of Coffee” since it’s discovery in the 9th or 13th century – depending on which origin story you believe. Since then, much of the coffee grown there remains semi-wild in forests and small gardens. The country, in terms of coffee production, is made up primarily of small producers, sometimes only with 100 coffee trees or less. Many of these producers have heirloom varietals in their gardens, of which a unique set of flavors is derived from the coffees when each producer is pooled together at the local mill.

The Yirgacheffe region in particular is one of three major coffee producing regions that the Ethiopian government trademarked, in order to bring wider recognition to its unique set of cup characteristics. Sweet, Citrus, and floral are defining characteristics of many coffees from the region. Gutiti is a sub-region of Yirgacheffe, known for producing floral and fruit-toned coffee. This coffee is a heirloom varietal that is de-pulped, washed and then sun- dried. It is a stunning example of the Yirgacheffe coffee profile and is sure to be a pleasure in the cup.
